System Buying Guide (budget = 52,000rs)

This is another blog about the best gaming system u can buy here in Lahore within ur budget excluding monitor, mouse, keyboard, and speakers.
The Prices i use are the average around the market in Lahore, U can find better deals and prices if u spend more time in each shop to talking about prices.

Total budget today is 50,000rs ..for which the system i selected is below..
I have included links to the official site of the product. Just click the Name of the product. I was unaware of formatting regarding Http links. Which ive played around to use in this blog making it much easier to read and understand :)

:::::::::

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 (2.8Ghz) = 10100rs
Motherboard: Asus P5Q3 (intel P45-ICH10R) = 13500rs
RAM: Corsair XMS3 (DDR3 2x2Gb at 1333Mhz Dual Kit) = 6600rs
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTS250 512Mb = 12800rs
HDD: Western Digital 250Gb (16Mb Cache) = 4100rs
PSU: CoolerMaster ExtremePower 500w = 4100rs
Casing: CoolerMater Gladiator 600 = 5400rs
Total = 52,500rs

(i understand its above the budget but getter better prices will bring it down right on
the budget line!)

I didnt select the High-End Intel E8400 processor because this E7400 can be easily overclocked to speeds of 3.4Ghz or more. If u need more speed, simply overclock but let me remind u. That the heatsink that comes with this processor is very poor. So if u have a cool system it may work. But otherwise it will be unstable unless you buy a thirdparty Heatsink. Third party heatsinks are not so expensive if u are not going to overclock so much.

I selected this motherboard because DDR3 RAM are really cheap nowadays. And as it is the next generation you should avoid using DDR2 RAM if u have a similar budget for a system. Do remember that u will have to install a 64-bit OS to utilise the 4Gb of RAM. And links are provided. Its best to go to the manufacturers site and read about the specifications then to trust someone. And always read reviews of the product you are willing to purchase.

This GPU is great for its price. but as an alternative i would recommend a Radeon 4850 HD which is a little more expensive here in Pakistan then it should be. U can grab it for 2K more. Which if u can, i ensure you will be 100% satisfied with this system. And I recommend ATI because this motherboard has CrossFire.

The casing i selected it pretty hard-core! It allows for all the fancy cable managment which keeps ur system clean and cool. And the CM 500w PSU is just as much as u need for this system.

If u have any confusions. U can comment on my post or contact me at zainadeel@live.com, I will be glad to help :)

Hope my post was helpful.

System Buying Guide (budget = 26000rs)

This is a little guide u can say. About what system to make according to different budget range.

I will keep updating my blog for a different budget selection, after a day or so. Ill start with ruppees 26,000 being in Pakistan. It is according to the prices of Hardware available here in Pakistan (accurately Lahore).

If u have 26,000rs to spend on a system. The best system according to me. Would be:

Processor: Intel e5200 Dual Core 2.5Ghz = 5950rs
Motherboard: ASUS P5QPL-AM (with G41 Chipset) = 6100rs
RAM: CORSAIR DDRII 2GB-800 = 2050rs
Casing & PSU: Cooler Master CM Elite 330-335 With 350W PSU = 4000rs
GPU:INNO3D GeForce PCX 9500GT 512MB = 4600rs
HDD: Western Digital 250Gb (one year warrenty) = 3300

Total = 26000rs

This is as good as it gets.Ofcourse without a Monitor. Or other accessories like mouse or keyboard. And an optical drive which i suppose everyone has a DVD-drive or burner in their current builds. But if u already have a harddrive or casing then u can save urself 3500rs from this build and then i will recommend a Inno3D GeForce 9600GT WHICH IS A BEAST GPU FOR THIS SYSTEM!! it goes for 7300rs

I didnt select an AMD system because here the new processors which outrun Intel dual cores arent available. And i also skipped ATI Graphics because they are more expensive here then Nvidia.
I would recommend to save some extra Thousand ruppees to make up for a GeForce 9600GT because this is the only part which will really improve framerates and gaming performance on the build ive suggested. :)the budget would slide to about 29000rs But u will be a very satisfied buyer.

And i will recommend again and again to anyone who purchase a GeForce 9500GT for a similar system to wait and save up 2 3grand and get a GeForce 9600GT instead to experience real gaming Mazaa!!!!!! (fun)

Hope this post was helpful :)

Windows 7 RTM Announced by Steve Ballmer at MGX

Windows 7 is being released to manufacturers rite now.
There wont be any big chances as it seems, just little fixes to finish the product.

People using the RC1 are using all the features which will likely feature in the final version of Windows 7.

Atlast a good news for PC makers. As they will be able to better configure their drivers for better compatibility.
Windows 7 is a HIT! Microsoft have done it again after a long time. I myself use the Windows 7 RC1 version 7100 and it is far better then any operating system ive used. In the past or in the present, windows 7 is as good as an OS can be.

Get ready to order ur Copy soon!!!

QUAKE live updated!

here is the link to the full list of update changes.

Hotmail's maximum storage size increases to 500 GB

In the Wave 3 update.. Live Mail was going to have an ever-increasing size. And it has been upgraded to 500Gb.

That is just too much for emails. Plus the attachment size of 10mb really restricts the use.

Its useless unless they increase the attachment size. So the space can be utilized.

I use just 2 percent rite now.

Intel's new 34nm solid-state drives!

Intels next generation solid-state-drives are official now.
These new SSDs make use of flash memory chips made using 34nm process technology.
Older drives used 50nm chips.

This move to a finer fabrication process will allow intel to make these SSDs cheaper so the price of these new SSDs will be alot less then their equal capacity counterparts available in market now.

The 80Gb unit X-25M costs $345
But the 34nm 80Gb unit will cost $225
The 160Gb 50nm X25-M sells for $600
The 34nm unit is slated to cost just $440

These new SSDs will also perform better due to less latency times then their predecessors.
Random write performance has apparently doubled, as well.
The new X25-Ms are apparently shipping now.

GeForce 190.38 drivers out! (Final, WHQL-certified)

These drivers include a new power management scheme for certain GeForce 9 and newer graphics cards. Here's the full description from the official release notes:

Many NVIDIA graphics cards support multiple performance levels so that the PC can save power when full graphics performance is not required. To provide more control over these power management capabilities, NVIDIA has added the Power Management Mode control. The control consists of two settings–Adaptive and Prefer Maximum Performance.

Adaptive: This is the default setting in which the graphics card monitors GPU usage and seamlessly switches between modes based on the performance demands of the application. This allows the GPU to always use the minimum amount of power required to run a given application, and can allow even older 3D games to run in lower power modes if the game does not require full 3D performance. NVIDIA recommends this setting for best overall balance of power and performance.

Prefer Maximum Performance: This setting lets you maintain the card at its maximum performance level when 3D applications are running regardless of GPU usage. This option can be set Globally (for all 3D applications), or an application profile can be created under Program Settings to set the preference for a particular 3D application.

You can also see all the bug fixes at their webpage.

Total Solar Eclipse July 22 2009!! Longest this century!

On Wednesday, 2009 July 22, a total eclipse of the Sun is visible from within a narrow corridor that covers half of Earth. The path of the Moon's umbral shadow begins in India and crosses through Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and China.
After leaving mainland Asia, the path crosses Japan's Ryukyu Islands and curves southeast through the Pacific Ocean where the maximum duration of totality reaches 6 min 39 s.

A partial eclipse is seen within the much broader path of the Moon's penumbral shadow, which includes most of eastern Asia, Indonesia, and the Pacific Ocean.

This is the longest Solar Eclipse of this century with a duration of 6minutes and 39seconds.

This diagram below will give you an idea of where the Total and Partial Eclipse will be visible.

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic getting kinetic scrolling, widgets!

The Nokia XpressMusic 5800 is getting a firmware update, which will introduce some new features - an enhanced homescreen, kinetic scrolling in some menus as well as improved camera performance and response time.

Update: The homescreen will be modified to resemble the one on Nokia 5530 XpressMusic.

The kinetic scrolling update is only partial at this stage - it will work in the homescreen, the Contacts list and the web browser.

This would be the scrolling in the way u slide ur finger not the other way which will still work in some menus.

Another benefit of the upcoming firmware update would be the improved response time and camera performance. This update will release soon.

Solving IE 8's tab delay, And making it BLAZING FAST!!!

There is a big bug in Internet Explorer 8 when u open a new tab it reacts really slow.

This is a simple tweak which aparently fixes the lag.

1. Disable suggested sites. (Tools Menu -> Suggested Sites)

2. You're done. Really, that was it. IE8 is now even more responsive than Chrome (FF is way behind).

Optionally, you can shave off (what I deem negligible) time by making the tabs open a blank page instead of the new tab page.
